Bihar irrigation canal collapses just before inauguration by Nitish

Bihar:During a trail which was being conducted hours before inauguration , a 20 feet of wall of the main canal collapsed and water gushed through , flooding a portion of the NTPC township nearby. This project is worth Rs 389-cr and was going to be inaugurated by chief minister Nitish Kumar.

Due to the collapse, inauguration of the Bateswar Ganga Pump Nahar Yojana (BGPNY) project had to be cancelled. This incident of wall breach is a big embarrassment for the government as it took around 40 years to build.
The floodwater was receded from most areas on Wednesday morning, but about half-a-km stretch of the road between Satkar Chowk and Murkatia Chowk was still submerged.
