AP CM attends Environmental conservation conference

Vishakapatnam, Sept 17: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has attended the two-day Environmental conservation conference on Sunday, which organized the State Pollution Control Boards of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana under the aegis of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

The Supreme Court Justice RK Agarwal and Chairman of National Green Tribunal (NGT) Swatantra Kumar were also seen in attendance for the two-day conference at the V-Convention Centre at Madurawada in Visakhapatnam.

Addressing on the occasion, Chandrababu highlighted regarding the ensuring sustainable development and the need for the conservation of plantation etc in Andhra Pradesh.

Delivering the valedictory address at Conference he detailed the steps taken by the State to protect natural resources and Eruvaka, Vanam-Manam, Jalasiriki Harati and other programs celebrated with the festive spirit, were part of this. Thanks to this initiative, there were copious rains this year.

Andhra Pradesh was being developed as a model state for good environment, Chief Minister said.

Mr.Naidu also said efforts were on to make the state Open Defecation Free and already all municipalities and 4,000 villages had become ODF. By October 2 next, 100 percent ODF would be achieved, he said.
