Durga visarjan on Vijaya Dashami with no restrictions; except on Muharram.

Mamata Banerjee made it clear that there are no restrictions on Durga visarjan on Vijaya Dashami. She said immersion of idols is restricted on the day of Muharram to avoid any disturbance between two communities. She also said that BJP is spreading rumours about restriction on idol immersion on Vijaya Dasha.



Durga Puja is celebrated in West Bengal on a larger scale than any other state."Let me make it amply clear what we told the puja organisers. There will be no immersion of idols only on Muharram, which is a day after Vijaya Dashami. There is no restriction on visarjan on Vijaya Dashami. We have only sought four hours on that day so that there is a gap between process of visarjan (immersion of idols) getting over and the other community performing their rituals", Banerjee clarified.
