Telangana cultural dance in Britian Parliament

Britain, Sept 16: The British Parliament of UK has resounded with the beats of Telangana folk songs with the Gond Gussadi dancers showcasing Telangana's rich culture as part of the World Tourism Day celebrations.

The Telangana's Gond Gussadi dance was showcased on the UK soil for the first time ever, said Ragasudha Vinjamoori, associated with the Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence.

The Sanskruti Centre organized the event in association with the Department of Culture, Government of Assam and Tripura, which was hosted by Bob Blackman MP.

She said this year was being celebrated as the UK-India Year of Culture and a variety of tribal dances were presented, including Bagurumba of Assam, Pawara dance of Maharashtra, Gondu Gussadi and Lambadi of Telangana, Santhali of West Bengal, Hojagiri of Tripura, and Peacock dance.

Different perspectives on cultural tourism were presented by Richard Nicholls, Head of Research and Forecasting-Visit Britain; Gangadhar Chilka, Assistant Director-India Tourism; Dirisa Mulindwa, Programme Head of Tourism and Hospitality at University of Sunderland in London; Govind Kanegaonkar and Anil Nene from Maharashtra Mandal, London and Ravi Bhanot, Chairman for Diwali in London-2017.

Of all those who presented the dances, Suvarchala Madireddi, Karthika Kanne, Rajanikanth Tadinada and Ragasudha Vinjamuri were Telugu-speaking participants.
