Massive Fire accident erupted in Cherlapally

Hyderabad, Sept 15: Here a massive fire accident erupted while an LPG cylinder exploded in a godown of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) at Cherlapally on Thursday night.

The Information reported that the fire broke out around 8.30 PM. when a cylinder exploded in the warehouse. With the fire spreading and cylinders stored in the warehouse exploding one after the other, six fire tenders were rushed to the spot and a major firefighting exercise was taken up, with police and locals too joined.

Assistant District Forest Officer Shankar Lingam said six teams from the Cherlapally, Moula Ali, Malkajgiri, Jeedimetla, Sanathnagar and Musheerabad fire stations were deployed for the exercise.



"It took more than an hour to douse the flames. The situation was brought under control by 9.50 PM" he said, adding that no casualties were reported.

The Rachakonda police in a late Thursday night said the firefighters had done their job commendably and the police had brought the situation under control by 9.50 PM.

There were several who took to social media and said the blasts could be heard even one kilometer away from the spot.
