Inter state smuggler arrested, 97 red sanders seized

Kadapa, Sept 14: The Kadapa police arrested 6 red sanders smugglers including most wanted inter-state smuggler Mohammed Ismail and seized 97 red sanders logs, a truck and 3 cars from them on Wednesday.

The details reported that the arrested inter-state smuggler Ismail was involved in illegal transportation of 500 tonnes of red sanders logs. The remaining accused were identified as Sheik Rashid, Pasha, Beri Nagaraju, Devella Lokesh and Chigurupati Srinivasulu.

While speaking to the media here, the SP said that special police teams conducted raids at Mydukuru and Sundupalle areas and nabbed 6 red sanders smugglers were caught red handed based on the information provided by smugglers, who were arrested in Rajampet and Rayachoti recently.

The accused were produced before the media in the presence of District Superintendent of Police (SP) Attada Babujee. The SP said all the five were involved in illegal transportation of red sanders logs in Kadapa, Tirupati, Kurnool, Nellore and Chittoor districts.
