Reliance Industries wins healthy workplace award

New Delhi, Nov 11 : Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) said it scored the highest in measures to improve health of the employees and their communities, as assessed by global health non-profit organisation Arogya World.

RIL is among the seven companies in India that are being recognised by Arogya World as the first "Platinum Healthy Workplaces" for tracking workplace health metrics.

The other six companies to win the award are Reliance Industries Limited - Hoshiarpur Manufacturing Division; Wipro Limited; Reliance Infrastructure - Mumbai Transmission Business; SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd; Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Limited and Johnson & Johnson Private Limited, India.

"Platinum award applicants demonstrated not only a depth of understanding for the benefit of a healthy workforce, but also sensitivity to the needs of their unique population and work culture," said Sharon Frazee, who was involved in anaylysing data provided by the participants.

"The health and wellness programmes for their workforce, their families, and within their communities are innovative and demonstrate very promising results," Frazee noted.

Arogya World targets workplaces for prevention of non-communicable diseases like diabetes, heart disease and cancer through health education and lifestyle changes.

Award presentation ceremony was held in the presence of corporate leaders and experts at India International Centre here this week.

The Platinum awards represent highest level of this global health non-profit organisation's Healthy Workplace Programme awards to recognise the important role that companies play to improve the health of their employees and their communities.
