13 year old rape survivor delivers premature baby

Mumbai Sept 9: A 13-year-old rape survivor had delivered a premature baby yesterday. Recently the Supreme Court has ordered the woman to deliver a baby and has rejected her plea to abort her fetus which was 32 weeks old.

The women was admitted to the JJ hospital yesterday.The doctors have performed a c-section and she delivered a boy. The doctors said the mother was safe.The Boy born with underdeveloped organs was admitted to neonatal ICU.

Sources say that doctors unhappy with 'court-ordered premature birth, said that time is not for the court to decide.



Doctors said that if the family of her parents doesn't take the child to their home then they would put the boy for adoption.

Currently as per law foetuses older than 20 weeks cannot be medically terminated. Earlier the girl's doctor had approached the supreme court for the abortion of the baby but the court has ordered them to perform surgery so that she delivers a baby and her mental trauma is relived.

However, the family of the girl reacted and said that we would have waited for few more weeks for the girl to deliver the baby but the court has ordered to deliver a pre mature baby.
