GST Council meeting to be held Today

Hyderabad Sept 9: A crucial meeting will be held today.
The 21 GST Council Meeting will be held today in Hyderabad.The officials have already started discussing various issues yesterday.

The agenda of the meeting would be as follows

* Fixation of additional cess on luxury cars.

* Reduction and exemption of GST on several household items such as brooms, clay idols, and saree falls and more items.

* New guidelines for packaged and branded food products.

* Reviewing tax rates on work contracts taken up by the government .



Earlier the Telangana Government has made a strong pitch to ensure that GST rate of 5 % is levied on work contracts.So that states don't face additional burden.

Earlier the council has reduced the tax rates on public work contracts to 12 % from 18 %. Earlier Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has also agreed to the proposal and said that let the council take a decision.

Telangana state Finance Minister Etela Rajender has said that "the council of both center and states would collectively take a decision".
