Telangana MLA got stripped of Indian Citizenship

TRS MLA Ramesh Chennamaneni, From Karimnagar district was found to have German citizen passport dur=e to which his Indian citizenship has been canceled. This was found in an investigation which was started after a complaint from his rival to the Andhra Pradesh High court.

The rival challenged the TRS leader post stating that how he can participate in election when he is not even an Indian citizen. Upon investigation it was found out that MLA was also holding Germany’s citizenship and never stay in india for more than 12 months.



His election was quashed in 2013 by AP high court but he was able to obtain a stay. But the rival appealed again in Supreme Court and MLA’s Indian citizenship was cancelled. According to Indian law a person who is not an India Citizen cannot participate in election.
