India cannot give death penality to Gangster Abu Salem

After 24 years Gangster Abu Salem was sentenced to life imprisonment today by a special TADA court. He was found guilty in 1993 Mumbai blasts case. He got arrested from Portugal due to which the CBI Officers are confused whether to ask for Death punishment or not because of the treaty signed between India and Portugal. This treaty says a person arrested from Portugal or send to India on central government demand cannot be hanged be sentenced to life imprisonment beyond 25 years.



Mustafa Dossa, Mohammed Tahir Merchant, Karimullah Khan, Riyaz Siddiqui and Feroze Abdul Rashid Khan were convicted by TADA court in june. Tahir Merchant and Feroze Khan were given death penality but the main accused cannot be sentenced for more than 25 years due to the treaty.

In 1993 Mumbai, a series of 13 blasts shaked India ,killing 257 people and injuring 700 others. But India is struck in apposition where the killer cannot be given appropriate punishment.
