Delhi HC imposes RS 5000 cost against Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi, Sep 4: An order was passed today. Arvind Kejriwal has imposed a cost of Rs. 5000 for the delay in filing his reply to a fresh Rs 10 crore defamation suit filed by Union minister Arun Jaitley over the use of an objectionable word allegedly by the CM's former lawyer by Delhi High Court. The high court has asked Kejriwal to deposit Rs 5,000 in the 'Army Welfare Fund Battle Casualties'.

The court has imposed the cost after Jaitley's counsel Manik Dogra informed the court that the chief minister's written statement to the suit was filed beyond the time of two weeks granted by this court on July 26. However, the Delhi CM lawyers have urged the court to dismiss the petition but the court has ignored their responsibilities.

Earlier Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has filed a defamation case against the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for alleged corruption charges against him during the tenure of DDCA president.
