Man arrested for duping as ACB officer, seized Rs.4 lakhs

Hyderabad, Sept 3: The West Zone Task Force Police have arrested a person who extorted money by introducing himself as an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official here on Saturday.

Police seized net cash Rs 4 lakh and 110 Grams of gold ornaments, all worth about Rs 8 lakh from him.

While coming to details, The arrested identified as Gotthala Sreenivasulu (50) of Banjara Hills and a native of Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh.

In July 2017, the accused called Mandal Surveyor, Sherilingampally on his phone and introduced himself as NS Reddy, Officer on Special Duty(OSD) to DG, ACB and informed him that ACB Officials were focusing him and cautioned him to be careful and extorted money of Rs 12 lakh from him.

In the same manner, in the month of August-2017, he called one Ch Srinivasu, OSD to Minister of Health and introduced himself as NS Reddy, OSD to DG ACB and informed him that one file is pending against him with DG ACB, seeking permission from Chief Secretary to proceed further and told him to be careful.

Based on the complaint of Ch Srinivasu a case was registered and arrested him near secretariat.

Earlier he was also arrested by Chanda Nagar in October 2013 for the same case, police added.
