SC to hear Bofors case in October

New Delhi Sept 1: A case may be ended soon.
The Supreme Court has said that the final hearing in Bofors case would commence in October.

Chief Justice Dipak Misra has said that " the BJP leader and advocate Ajay Kumar Agarwal appeal against the Delhi High Court May 31, 2005, judgment, quashing all charges against the Europe-based Hinduja brothers in the case, has been pending for long".

Earlier the Advocate has filed a plea for early hearing of the matter. The top court has accepted his plea on October 18, 2005, when the CBI has failed to approach the top court with the appeal within the 90-day deadline following the High Court verdict.

The court's remarks assume significance in the wake of ruling BJP MPs for reopening of the probe into the Bofors kickback scandal after the media reports quoting Swedish chief investigator Sten Lindstrom's suggested the alleged bribery at the top level.

Experts say that the case would be heard soon and a final judgment would be passed on so that there would be an end to a 31-year-old corruption scandal.
