E-way Bill Rules notified

New Delhi, Aug 31: Some guidelines were issued recently. The finance ministry today has notified the rules for e-way bill required under GST regime. Currently these Electronic bills are required for transportation of goods whose value is more than RS 50000.

Earlier the GST Council in the last Meeting held on August 5 has given in principle approval for the rules . Sources say that the e-way Bill system would be implemented from October 1.

The rules say that "electronic Bills would not be required for transporting goods which are exempt from GST ".

* People must register themselves on the GSTN platform before transporting goods so that electronic bills will be generated and the validity of these bills depends on the distance the goods would be traveling.

# 1 day for 100 km
# 3 days 100 -300 km
# 5 days 300 - 500 km
# 10 days 500 - 1,000 km.

Finance Minister has said that E-way bills are essential under new tax regime because all states have abolished check posts and these bills would help to reduce tax evasion and increase efficiency so that goods can be freely flown across the country.
