TS Govt sanctioned Rs.120 Cr for Constituency funds

Hyderabad, Aug 29: The Telangana State government has sanctioned Rs 120 crore for taking up development works under the Constituency Development Program (CDP) in Assembly constituencies across the State.

Under the second installment, Rs 75 lakh was released for each MLA/MLC constituency for the year 2017-18.

The government released Rs 105 crore for all MLA/MLC constituencies and another Rs 15 crore for twenty MLCs nominated by the Governor and elected by the MLAs.

These MLCs need not opt for any district as their nodal district and are empowered to spend these funds for development of any nominated works across the State. The District Collectors were authorized to release the funds for the eligible works as per the norms.

This amount can be allocated by the public representatives for any development work in their constituencies such as the construction of school buildings, installation of CCTVs and road works, and funds are then released by the Collectors of respective districts.

Until last year, the total CDF allotment was Rs 1.5 crore but after requests from public representatives, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao doubled the CDP funds from this financial year.

The Finance Department has already issued the bank release order for Rs 120 crore funds under the CDP program.
