New Cheif Justice of India  takes oath

New Delhi Aug 28: An event took place today.
Indias New Cheif Justice of India took charge today.Justice Dipak Misra was sworn in as the 45th Chief Justice of India on Monday.Justice J S Khehar retired as 44 CJI on Sunday.

The new CJI oath taking ceremony was administered by President
Ram Nath Kovind. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many other dignitaries have attended the oath taking ceremony. The new CJI would retire on October 2, 2018.

The profile of new CJI is

* practiced in Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Revenue, Service and Sales Tax matters in the Orissa High Court and the Service Tribunal.

* He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Orissa High Court on 17th January 1996.

* Transferred to the Madhya Pradesh High Court on 03rd March 1997.

* He became permanent Judge on 19th December 1997.

* Misra assumed charge of the office of Chief Justice, Patna High Court on 23rd December.

* He became the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court on 24th May 2010.

* Justice was elevated to the Supreme Court on October 10, 2011.

Let's hope he delivers some landmark Judgments.
