AP Govt to set up Kala Bhavan in Vijayawada

Vijayawada, Aug 23: The Andhra Pradesh State government will set up Kala Bhavan, a cultural center, at Satyanarayanapuram in the Vijayawada city.

The land required has been identified and the project will cost Rs.10 crores.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has approved the proposals submitted by the Department of Culture in this regard. Mr. Naidu approved another proposal, Ananda Lahiri.

'Ananda Lahiri', a weekly event, will be organized in all 110 municipalities and Corporations in the State. It will be a platform for professionals and amateurs to showcase their talent.

Mr. Naidu on Tuesday said such events would provide a platform to artists. Also, those events would open dialogue to address social evils such as dowry, child marriage, gender inequality, drugs, alcohol, and caste, as these are the themes assigned for professional artist performances, he said, adding, include more activities such as sports, artisans and handicraft stalls, classical arts and theatre.
