NCSC to probe on Nerella incident

Hyderabad, Aug 22: In a raging issue claims Nerella Police have tortured Dalit people in Siricilla.
The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has decided to investigate the incident of alleged police brutality and atrocities against SCs in Nerella village of Sircilla Rajanna district.
The NCSC has sent a notice to Telangana Chief Secretary S.P. Singh and DGP Anurag Sharma stating that it was in receipt of representation from AICC Secretary and ex-MP R.C. Khuntia and other MPs of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha on the police brutality on Dalits.
Therefore, the Commission asked the CS and DGP to submit facts and information on the action taken on the allegations.
"Report should have details of action taken under the SC, ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, 2015 and Rules 2016 therefore," the Commissioner said.
The Commission warned that it would summons for the appearance of CS and DGP in person or by a representative before it if it does not receive a reply within the stipulated time.
