Indian Army to get Apache Vechiles

New Delhi Aug 18: A long wait may soon be over.Indian Army would soon get new weapons.The Defence Acquisition Council chaired by Defense Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday has cleared a proposal to buy six Apache attack helicopters. sources say that the cost of the deal is Rs 4,168 crore. The specialty of the new helicopters are

* These are US based and are manufactured by Boeing
* The AH-64E Apache helicopters will come with associated equipment including spares, training, and ammunition.
* Two sets of gas turbines from Ukraine for two Grigorovich class ships being built in Russia for India will also be bought.



* These helicopters would be deployed against Pakistan and China
* The acquirement will fulfill Indias operational Requirements.

Finally, the Cabinet Committee on Security will approve the deal shortly so that an order could be placed.
