Japan Supports India, china plans new strategy

New Delhi Aug 18: A shock has been received.
Japan has supported India in the on going two-month-long Doklam standoff and said there should be no "unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force".

The remarks assume significance because Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's will visit India next month and it is the first show of unequivocal support to India from a major country.

Japanese Ambassador Kenji Hiramatsu told that "We understand that the area is disputed between China and Bhutan and that both countries recognize the existence of a dispute".

He has also said that "What is important in disputed areas is that all parties involved do not resort to unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force, and resolve the dispute in a peaceful manner."

Finally, he has said that "We understand that India is involved in this incident based on bilateral agreements with Bhutan. External Affairs Minister Swaraj has made it clear that India would continue to engage with dialogue through diplomatic channels to find a mutually acceptable solution. We consider this attitude towards peaceful resolution important."

Sources say that China has planned a different strategy to increase pressure on the country by encouraging its soldiers to enter the Indian territory at the border regions. However Indian Army has recognized the strategy and is planning to foil more such attempts so that our border is protected.
