HC given green signal to Kakinada Muncipal polls

Hyderabad, Aug 17: The Hyderabad High Court has given green signal to the Kakinada Municipal corporation polls here on Thursday.

The court has refused to stay on the elections. The petition filed in the high court challenging the re-division and reservation of the wards.

At present, 48 wards are in the election and petitioners have been asked to hold elections for 50 wards. The court has inquired and said that the municipal elections could be held as per schedule.



Since the announcement of the election notification, the petition hearing was postponed for many times in the High Court.

Finally, the high court has given final verdict and cancel the petition here Thursday.

However, the TDP had tried to do the same with the idea that the Kakinada Corporation was postponing the polls.But, The court directed that the govt can conduct the Kakinada Municipal elections according to the old schedule.
