Smart Electricity Meters  below Rs 1000 soon Piyush Goyal

New Delhi Aug 11: A new scheme would soon be launched.
Piyush Goyal Power Minister today has informed the Lok Sabha that
"We would soon bring a scheme to distribute smart electricity meters".

He has also said that "the cost of these meters would be below Rs 1000 compared to current price of Rs 10,000-15000." Minister has assured that the new meters would no longer give fudged readings and it will help the police to catch hold of people who steal electricity.

Goyal has explained that "there will be a simplified smart electricity meter which would be tamper proof and would eliminate the role of the linesman because of the online readings".

He has also assured that the meters would entirely manufactured in the country under the "Make in India" scheme. He has said that the prices of LED bulbs have dropped from Rs 300 to below Rs 40.

Finally, he has assured that All houses in the country would be electrified by August 15, 2022, and all villages by May 2018.Let's hope that the new scheme to be launched will be successful so that people will be benefitted.
