Monsoon Session of Rajya Sabha completed

New Delhi Aug 11: A discussion has ended.The monsoon session of parliment has ended today.

Rajya Sabha: The house has welcomed the new chairman
M. Venkaiah Naidu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and many members of the house have wished him greetings. Chairman has announced that the details of the house proceedings of the monsoon session.

* The house has welcomed the new chairman.
* The house has also bid farewell to Hamid Ansari Former Vice President and some of the retiring members such as Sitaram Yechury.

* A special resolution regarding on the occasion of 75th Anniversary of
Quit India Movement was passed by the house.

* The upper House that commenced on July 17, included 19 sittings and it
took more than 80 hours.

* The house has lost 25 hours due to disruption but has sat for more
than 7 hours extra to complete the legislative business.

* Some important discussions were held on Cow lynching, farmers stress
and recent flood situation and Indian foreign policy.

* The following 9 government bills were passed in the session.

* The Footwear Design and Development Institute Bill.



* The Admiralty (Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Bill

* The Collection of Statistics (Amendment) Bill

* The National Institutes of Technology and Science Education and Research (Amendment) Bill.

* Indian Institutes of Information Technology (Public-Private Partnership) Bill

* The Constitution (123rd Amendment) Bill

* The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Bill

* The Indian Institutes of Information Technology (Amendment) Bill

* The Banking Regulation (Amendment) Bill.

* The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2017 was referred to the Select Committee of the Rajya Sabha.

* The Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance Bill, 2017 was referred to the Joint Committee of
both Houses.(A bill aimed at cleaning up financial sector ).

* 285 starred questions and 3,040 unstarred questions were admitted and answered during the session.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die on Friday by new Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu.
