India to host first BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise

Kathmandu, Nepal Aug. 11: An announcement was made recently. Sushma Swaraj External Affairs Minister on Friday has announced that " India will be hosting the first BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise in October 2017 ."

Minister has also said that "Our region is vulnerable to a variety of disasters due to its geo-climatic conditions." She has also said that "this conference will help to build regional capacities in India, will help us to develop quicker, coordinated and comprehensive responses to disasters, and provide timely relief and rehabilitation".

The Minister has said the above words at the 15th BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting in Kathmandu. Mrs Swaraj has also said that "BIMSTEC is a natural choice for India to fulfill its key foreign policy priorities of 'Neighbourhood First' and 'Act East' policies".

Finally, she hoped that the conference to be held in India would help all the countries during diaster by adopting better systems in diaster management.
