New Delhi, Aug 8: A decision may be taken soon. GST Council would likely to discuss the proposal to reduce the tax rates on 150 items in its next meeting to be held on September 9 in Hyderabad. The following items tax rates may be reduced
* Clay Idols
* Dhoop battis
* Dosa and Idli batters
* Macaroni Pasta
* Granite raw blocks
* Scientific instruments
The Council may give clarity on the tax rates on the following items and may reduce tax rates
* Sharbats with synthetic flavoring.
* Treatment of dried methi patta as spices or dried vegetables.
* Sweets and milk products served in restaurants.
* Considering chikki and kheer as sweets for a lower tax rate.
The fitment committee has suggested that imposition of 5 % tax on branded items as on May 15, 2017. So that many companies which have unregistered their brands after July 1 would be covered under the new tax regime.
