Amarnath Yatra concludes

Srinagar, Aug 7: A tour has been concluded. The annual pilgrimage of 40 days to Amarnath shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas ended today.

Officials have said that nearly 2.60 lakh pilgrims offered prayers in 2017. Some sad events such as a terrorist attack on the bus carrying pilgrims had left eight devotees dead.

Currently every year Amarnath yatra concludes on the festival of Raksha Bandhan. Sources say that more number of people have visited this year compared to previous year.

Officials of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) have said that the holy cave will be closed for darshan from today.

Sadhus and pundits will perform some traditional rituals in sanctum sanctorum. However pujan and visarjan (immersion) ceremonies for the journey of Chhari Mubarak would be conducted on 9 August.

Sadhus have said that Lord Shiva would be returned to its abode at Amareshwar temple at Dashnami Akhara. Officials have thanked security forces for ensuring a peaceful journey.
