Madras HC apologises a woman for delayed justice

Chennai Aug 6: A rare incident took place. Madras High Court has apologized women for delayed Justice. The court has said, "sorry, we have kept you waiting this long to secure your right."

The HC has said the above remarks after a justice was delivered to a woman has been fighting for past 24 years to claim the insurance for the death of her son.

Earlier the court has rejected an appeal filed by a public sector insurance company against the award of Rs 3.4 lakh by a motor accident claims tribunal (MACT).

The Court has said that "this accident had taken place in May 1993. It is little over 24 years now and this mother is not compensated yet."

HC has also said that " She still awaits her remedy. And, whatever remedy that has been provided to her by the tribunal may have been possibly delayed further due to the pendency of this appeal".

Earlier the insurance company has objected the tribunal order to issue compensation and has appealed in the court. Finally the woman has accepted the high court's Apology and has said urged the judge to ensure justice is delivered fastly in all cases.
