Telangana Rejects centres Detention policy

Hyderabad July 28: A proposal would be rejected soon.
The Telangana Government has clarified that it would not Implement the New detention policy of the central Government.

Currently, under RTE Act a child would be promoted to higher classes even though he fails in final exams based on his attendance and other criteria under the non-detention policy.

Union Minister Javedekar has said that we will amend the Act and we would conduct board exams for 5th and 8th class students.he said final exams would be conducted in March and if any student fails he can write supplementary exams in May .even the student fails in the 2nd exam he wouldn't be promoted.

He said that 25 states have agreed to this policy and would improve the standard and quality of education and state governments will have the choice whether to implement this policy or not. He also said that a bill will be introduced soon in the parliament.

However, the Telangana state government has objected this policy and said that this policy would encourage dropouts because many students don't attend the school if they fail and there are other methods to improve the quality of education.
