RBI stops printing Rs 2000 notes

New Delhi, July 26: After the announcement of the Note ban in November 2016, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had introduced the note of 2000 rupees in the market. But now RBI has stopped the printing of two thousand rupees notes. According to sources, the attention of the Reserve Bank is now on supplying small notes to the market. According to a news published in an English newspaper, the RBI had stopped printing the notes of 2000 rupees five months ago.

The note was printed only after four months of launch. A large note of 2000 rupees was launched by the government to relieve the people from the ban on bondage. But as the circulation of these notes increased rapidly in the market, the Reserve Bank stopped printing it. So far, about 14 billion notes of Rs. 500 have been printed.

The RBI's Mysore press is separately printing the new Rs 200 bills. Around a billion Rs 200 notes are expected to hit the market next month, say reports.
