No need of birth certificate to get Passport

New Delhi, July 24: Here is good news for people, who wants to get passports, but don't have birth certificates. In a major move by PM Narendra Modi led Central government, which has informed Parliament, birth certificates are no longer a must submit the document to get passports.

According to a report, Aadhaar or PAN card is among a host of documents which could be used to establish proof of birth to make a passport. The big move by Narendra Modi government has been made to continue the process of simplifying the process to secure passports for Indian citizens.



According to the Passport Rules, 1980, all applicants born on or after 26/01/1989, had to submit a birth certificate as a mandatory provision.

Now all citizens who want passport can submit any one of these:

* Transfer/school leaving/Matriculation Certificate issued by the school last attended/recognized educational board containing the DOB of the applicant;
* PAN Card;
* Aadhaar Card/E-Aadhaar;
* Driving license,
* Voter ID cards
* Even LIC policy bonds as proof of date of birth(DOB).
