Women employees to have a single day as 'Menstrual Leave'

Kerala, July 21: Here is good news for women employees, who are working in Kerala's Mathrubhumi news channel, while the company has decided on Thursday to give the 12 days of 'First Day of Period Leave' annually to women employees.

Coming to details, one of the largest media companies in Kerala, Mathrubhumi, has decided to offer menstrual leaves for their female employees.

"There is no use talking about women empowerment. We should understand women and be with them," said M V Shreyams Kumar, MLA and Joint Managing Director of the Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Co Ltd told media.



Kumar also said that the decision was indeed inspired by Culture Machine company in Mumbai. He said that while this will be introduced on an experimental basis with their TV channel, it will be implemented in other departments too.

The Channel's women employees expressed happiness for sanctioning leaves.
