Opposition Slams government over mob lynching

New Delhi July 20: A fierce discussion took place yesterday.The Rajyasabha has discussed the issue of recent atrocities and mob lynchings that are taking place in the country over consumption of beef.

The opposition has alleged that Some members of BJP and RSS are involved in these incidents. The government has condemned these incidents and said that communal color should not be given to such violent acts.

Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the government would take strict action against the mobs who are involved in such incidents and prime minister Modi has already spoken on this issue.

The Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that there is a rise in these incidents and is spreading the message of fear. However, the government has said that "We do not wish any destructive forces to affect the government's development agenda and the country's culture. and he urged the opposition to speak in one voice on this issue and not give communal color".

SP leader Naresh Agrawal while speaking on this said the government must bring a "stringent law" to curb the lynching incidents.



CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury has said "that several the cases of lynchings have been un reported that took place over the last two years and demanded that the central government ban cow vigilante groups and moral policing groups, which he described as "private armies".

Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien has said that "Empty words and generic comments will not work. Name the group. Name the individual. We are deeply suspicious."

Finally, the government has rebutted the opposition claims. Sources say that the discussion has not been concluded and will continue today also.
