Ravikiran bags Sangita Kalanidhi award

New Delhi, July 18: Chitraveena maestro N. Ravikiran was selected for the award for 'Sangita Kalanidhi'. The decision was taken unanimously at the Madras Music Academy's executive committee meeting.

He will preside over the 91st annual conference to be held on December 15, 2017, and January 1, 2018. The award will be conferred on him on January 1, on the day of sadas.

Ravikaran, who was recognized as child intellectual in music ... eventually climbed to the highest peaks of the field.

Ghatam exponent Sukanya Ramgopal and Othuvar Muthu Kandasamy Desikar will get the TTK awards. Musicologist award will go to T.S. Sathyavathi and the Papa Venkatramiah award for violin will be given to Thirvallur Parthasarathy.

Noted dancer Lakshmi Viswanathan will be conferred the Nritya Kalanidhi award for dance on the day of the inauguration of dance festival on January 3.

These awards will be awarded on Madras Music Academy anniversary on January 1, 2018. The Executive Committee has decided to hold the 91st anniversary of the academy from December 15 this year.
