President poll : EC completes arrangements

New Delhi, July 16: The election for next President of India will take place tomorrow. The Election Commission responsible for conducting election has completed all preparations. The president will be elected by voting of Electoral College which comprises both MLA and MPS.

The procedure of the election is as follows

* There are 4896 voters, out of which State assembly MLA - 4120 and Loksabha MPS-543 Rajyasabha MPS-233.

* The Vote of MPS is higher than the vote of MLA.

* The vote of MLAs vary according to state population and number of assembly seats in the state.

* The population will be considered according to 1971 census.

* The total value of votes is 10,98,903.

* The total value of state MLAs is 5,49,495.

* Value of Each MLA vote is calculated by dividing the population of the state by the number of MLAs and then multiplying that figure by 1000.

* The total value of all MPS is 5,49,408.

* The value of the vote of each MP is 708.

* The counting will take place on July 20

* All members would vote for their preferred candidate based on the ballot paper supplied by EC and whip issued will be invalid.

* A candidate will be declared as president if he gets half of the total valid votes.
