Hyderabad July 13: A good news for Telangana. The state has bagged Fourth place of the country in paddy procurement during the Kharif and Yasangi seasons in 2016-17. Telangana State, Commissioner for Civil Supplies C V Anand had revealed that
* The state has taken a quantum jump in procurement of 53.66 lakh metric tons (LMT) paddy from close to 11 lakh farmers in the State.
* He has also said that we have procured 37.14 LMTs of paddy purchased from 6,93,020 farmers in the State in the Yasangi season alone against the target of 37 L MT.
* We have procured 216 % more compared to 2013-14 (24.82 LMTs).
* We have also paid Rs 5,626.77 crore was paid online to farmer's account.
* We have procured paddy from 5231 Paddy purchase centers by offering Minimum Support Price Grade-A – Rs. 1,510 per quintal and Common Rs. 1,470 per quintal.
* He has also said that Andhra Pradesh stood marginally higher at 55.32 LMTs.
Sources say that Punjab, Chattisgarh have stood the first and second place in paddy procurement.
