Parlimentary panel sought details of Air India

New Delhi July, 10: A body has asked details from the government recently. A Parliamentary panel has asked the government to submit the details of the in-principal decision to privatize Air India. The government plans to complete this process very soon by forming a committee to decide future roadmap.

Sources say that finance ministry, civil aviation ministry, and Air India officials will submit the details to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Culture. Union Cabinet on June 28, gave in-principle approval for strategic disinvestment/privatization of Air India.

Finance Ministry Arun Jaitley has briefed the media and said that a committee headed by him prepare a road map for this landmark reform. Sources say that parliamentary panel would hear the views of government departments on July 12.

Let's hope that the parliament panel also recommends disinvestment of the Air India so that public money wouldn't be wasted in running a debt-ridden airline.
