kerala Chicken traders to shutdown shops

Trivandrum, India July 9: Generally prices of goods are fixed by traders/companies but In Kerala, a reverse scenario is taking place. The state Government has ordered all traders to sell chicken at RS 87 per KG.Sources say that the government has fixed this price because chicken is exempt from GST and customers must be benefited.

However, traders have objected this proposal because currently the rate of chicken after GST is RS 103 and we cannot sell at a lower price because it would be a huge loss. They have also said that there would be a lot of other costs involved and government must not take decisions without consulting us.

Traders have also said that the cost of chicken would go up to RS 140 in the retail market. Finally the traders are getting ready to shut down shops if the government doesn't back track their order. Let's hope that this issue would soon be resolved so that customers don't suffer.
