Fake seeds manufacturing racket busted

Hyderabad, July 6: The Hyderabad SOT police have conducted various raids on fake seeds manufacturing center and seized the seeds worth of Rs.25 lakhs at Hayath Nagar here on Wednesday.

The accused identified as Venkashiva Reddy, who belonged to the Vanastalipuram area, which is located from Hayatnagar to Munugunaru road, the place named as Agri-Biotech Pvt Ltd is making seeds illegally for a year without any permits. These are being sold to farmers and distributed to shops.

On the basis of credible information received by the SOT police, the joint attack of the agricultural and police officers have arrested the manufacturing unit on Wednesday. During inspections, police sealed the cotton, ladies finger, tomato, chilli, beans and other vegetable fake seeds.

Police had filed a cheating case for manufacturing the fake seeds and sent samples to the lab for testing and the manager Venkatshiva Reddy was taken into custody.The attack included SOT CI Venkateswarlu, CI Narender Goud, Ibrahimatnam Agriculture Technical AO Anjani Devi and Hayatnagar Mandal AEO Vasantha.
