TS power usage is more than national average

Hyderabad, July 04: According to the, TS Transco and Genco chairman and managing director, Dr. D. Prabhakar Rao, said that "the per capita power consumption in TS had crossed the national average".

He added that This was one of the global growth indicators.

Mr. Prabhakar said that, Against the national per capita power consumption of 1,010 KW, the figure stood at 1,394 KW in the state

Telangana State has an annual capacity of 48,000 million units. In the next three years, power consumption was expected to increase 1,00,000 million units, when the per capita power consumption would rise to 1,700 KW respectively.

Despite the increase in demand, TS would become power surplus by 2020.

He was speaking to 2016 batch IAS officers allotted to TS who were visiting power houses. He said TS had overcome a power crunch three years ago.
