Polavaram Project Works interrupted by Monsoon rains

Andhra Pradesh: Polavaram, July 2: The Senior Engineer VS Ramesh Babu said that the effect of the monsoon rains is imposed on the Polavaram project works.

While speaking to media persons at Project camp office on Saturday, At the Spil channel construction site is fully covered with sand and black soil and there is no chance to move the heavy machinery.

The Soil milling works have been stopped and stones removing work is still pending.

With three days of rainfall, the concrete works in Spillway were not prescribed and 2,500 cubic meters of concrete was required to be exceeded 1500 cubic meters per day.The 500 horsepower motors have been set up to drive rainwater without interruption of the spillway concrete works.

"The construction of the gates is going on fast. We have completed all the tests on the construction of the Caffar Dam, and the plans are going to be completed in October, as floods increase when grouting starts", he added.
