GST: Excel Document for return filing released

New Delhi, July 1: A good news for business people. GST Network (GSTN) yesterday has launched an offline Excel-based format. The offline format launched on Friday will helpful for traders and businesses to upload their sales data on the GST portal.
The Excel template contains 8 worksheets which make tax compliance easy. Under the new tax regime, every business or trader must file a return of all sales or trade made in a month in online by the 10th of the next month. This Excel template available on the GST common portal (www.gst.gov.in) can be downloaded and can be used. The following details in excel sheet must be filled by business
* Supply invoices issued to registered taxpayers.
* Export invoice details.
* Consolidated details of supplies to consumers.
* Credit/debit note details to registered/unregistered taxpayers.
* Details of documents issued.
GSTN has said that the Excel sheet must be uploaded onto GST software. The GST Council has given relaxations for filing returns for first two months.Lets hope that business and traders use the excel sheet so that they migrate into GST regime.
