Anthrax disease attacked 5 members in Araku

Vishakapatnam, June 27: Here in a shocking news, the 5 cases of suspected anthrax were reported in Araku Valley in the district, which was announced by the District Medical and Health Officer N. Umasundari here on Monday.

While speaking to media, She said some people had consumed the meat of goat suspected to be afflicted by cancer two weeks ago in Kodipunjuvalasa village of Araku Valley Mandal in the district.

Five of them were suffering from sores on hands and fingers which had symptoms of anthrax.

The medical officer who visited the village on June 22 treated them and advised them to go to Araku for further treatment and they had told him that they would go there on June 24.

When the medical officer again visited the village on June 24 they found them there and immediately shifted them to the King George Hospital in the city where they are undergoing treatment and were progressing she said.
