Ramzan Tohfa Gifts by AP govt

Vijayawada, June 26: The AP State Govt has planned to distribute the Ramzan Tohfa to the Muslim people, but it has failed to distribute the gift within the festival.

The state government has allocated Rs 65 crore for the free gift of Ramzan Tohfa to the 12 lakh Muslim families, who have white ration card on the occasion of Ramzan Festival. On this gift, 5 kg of wheat flour, sugar 2 kg, vermicelli of 1 Kg, ghee 100 ml in a bag should be distributed to cardholders.

However, due to lack of coordination of officers, the goods have been handed over to the shop since 19th of this month without access to shops. The festival had only seven days left, and the cardholders were not in a position to get a gift. Around 12 lakh cardholders were assumed but, arrangements are done for 11,27,025 cardholders only.

Even on Sunday evening, The Ramzan Tohfa gifts were distributed to 9,68,898 families. The remaining 1,58,127 cardholders yet to get the gifts. This means that 1.5 lakh of families have to do Ramzan on Monday without a Ramzan Tohfa gift.
