ACB caught tahsildar while accepting bribe

Warangal, June 25: Anti-Corruption Bureau officials have been caught Kazipet deputy tehsildar (DT) K Anil Kumar red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from one Pulluri Sammaiah. He had demanded the bribe in connection with handing over of a proceeding copy related to rectification in the records of a land.

ACB in charge DSP T Sudharshan Goud told media reporters that the accused had troubled Sammaiah for providing the said copy though he accepted to pay a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. Vexed by the attitude of the official, Sammaiah approached the ACB.

The ACB sleuths laid a trap and caught the deputy tehsildar while accepting the cash at his residence in Teachers Colony of Hanamkonda.

Complainant Sammaiah said he was holding a general power of attorney (GPA) of 3.3 acres of land owned by K Buchiramulu and seven others under survey number 166 of Shayampet village in the district.

As some persons took illegal possession of the land, Sammaiah approached the Joint Collector in 2005. Responding to the plea, the JC directed Kazipet tehsildar to inquire the issue and file a report.

Proceedings revising the records have been issued on June 2, 2017, by the tehsildar. However, the DT had demanded the bribe to issue the proceeding copy.

However, The ACB DSP said they would also probe whether there were any other complaints against DT Anil Kumar. The accused will be produced before the ACB court in Hyderabad. Inspectors SV Raghavender Rao, SV Ramana Murth, and G Venkateswarlu took part in the trap.
