Deloitte survey: 12.4 percent women appointed as board members

New Delhi, June 24 : A report was published recently. A survey was conducted by Deloitte regarding the status of women who are in top position.The main highlights of this survey are

* Just 12.4 % of women represent corporate board members in India.

* The global average of women boards members is 15 %.

* Only 3.2 per cent of women represent top position such as board chairs or CEOs in India.

* The global average for top women bosses recorded at 4 per cent.

* The number of women representing board members has increased in last 2 years.

* The main increase is the government notification mandatory to appoint at least one woman director to their boards for all listed companies and other large public limited firms.

* Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) also issued similar guidelines.

Finally, the survey concluded that companies must voluntarily appoint women directors in the board so that gender diversity prevails and women empowerment takes place.
