GST registrations to restart on June 25

NewDelhi, June 23: The central government has taken one more step for timely implementation of a key reform. The Central government has issued a statement that E-commerce operators and TDS deductors will be given another chance to register with GST Network. The GST portal will accept fresh registrations from June 25.

The government has also said that existing excise, service tax, and VAT assessees can migrate to the GSTN portal by doing fresh registration. All traders can also register within 3 months of the opening of the portal from Sunday.

Under the new tax regime all GST practitioners, Tax Deductors at Source (TDS), e-commerce operators, must collect tax at source. Officials said that currently, 65.5 lakh assesses out of 81 lakh have already migrated to the portal.

They have also said that registration with the GSTN is mandatory in the GST regime because businesses will have to upload monthly supply data as well as file return forms on the GST portal. Finally, the officials said that people should not panic and they have 3 more months time to register under GST.
