FSSAI extends ban on  import of  Chinese milk and its products

NewDelhi, JUNE 23: A ban has been extended.The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has recommended the center to extend the ban by one more year.

FSSAI has issued a circular to ban the import of milk and milk products from China till June 23, 2018. The ban will also be imposed on Chocolate and confectionery containing Milk and its products as one of the main Ingredients.

The food safety organization has said that we will revoke the ban if the products adhere to safety standards laid by us. The food regulator had taken this decision after it has conducted another review meeting with other ministries.

The ban was imposed in 2008 and it has been extended and the ban would end today.The ban was issued because of the safety concerns raised regarding the presence of toxic industrial chemical- melamine in Chinese milk and its products. Experts say that melamine is a harmful chemical and it affects the working of Human Brain.
