Hyderabad June 23: Home Minister, Nayani Narsimha Reddy has been commented on "Bharosa Centre", the support and care facility for women and children in distress, here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, During the annual governing body meeting here on Thursday, Nayani Narsimha Reddy discussed on the nitty-gritty of raising financial resources for the smooth functioning of the Centre.

The Bharosa center on Thursday said that the Centre will start raising finances on its own.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime&SIT) Swati Lakra said that so far the Women and Child Welfare department has been a major resource for financially supporting the functioning and maintenance of the Bharosa Centre.

“Efforts are on to make Bharosa financially independent. We are holding discussions with a host of corporate firms and exploring the possibility of accepting donations from them as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility,” she said, while addressing presspersons.

Home Minister, Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that the Bharosa Centre will become a one-point destination for women in distress as Health and State legal services will also be added to the facilities offered to women very soon.

"The Secretaries of the two departments would be added to the governing body of Bharosa Centre. With the addition of health and legal Services, the Bharosa centres will become a true one-point destination for women," he said.

Plans are afoot to spread Bharosa services to villages for which consultations at district levels are already underway, he added.

Since the inception of Bharosa Centre, a total of 1,931 victims approached the center with a range of problems. As many as 1,431 domestic violence (DV) cases, 162 Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 51 rape, and 286 miscellaneous cases were registered this year, she said.

Top police officials including Director General of Police, Anurag Sharma and Hyderabad Police Commissioner, M Mahender Reddy also took part in the meeting.
