Telangana to recruit 4,000 teachers in phases

Hyderabad June 22: The Telangana State Government has decided to recruit over 4,000 teachers in phases for the recently opened residential schools exclusively for students hailing from the backward classes communities.

A preliminary examination for recruitment of 1,583 teachers would be held soon while the main examinations are likely to be held during the middle of next month.

In addition, the Government had decided to position one residential staff nurse at each of the 119 residential schools to meet the medical requirements of students as and when they arise while physical education trainers would also be provided to these institutions soon.

According to senior officials, the Government had decided to rope in service of 742 teachers, at six teachers for each school, as temporary arrangement to overcome the shortage of trained teaching personnel. These temporary teachers would be paid an honorarium of Rs. 14,000 a month.

"The total number of teachers in the next four years is expected to be around 4,045. Recruitment will be taken up every year as the schools are upgraded with new classes," a senior official said.
